
NSWIS Sailor Nathan Outteridge
Nathan Outteridge, (born 28th January 1986) was the Australian Youth Champion in the 49er class from 2002 to 2004 and he has won numerous Australian titles and his third consecutive double handed ISAF World Youth Championship.
2004 was a very successful year for Outteridge, with wins in as many as four different classes at several major regattas and the prestigious title of World Youth Champion at the ISAF Double—Handed (420) Championships. In November 2005 Outteridge was recognised for his outstanding sporting achievements by being named ‘Australian Youth Sailor of the Year’ for the third consecutive year. The same year Nathan was nominated for the ’Young Australian Athlete of the Year Award.’
In 2007 he made his Australian Sailing Team debut alongside sailing partner Ben Austin. Outteridge and Austin have been competing together since 2006. The same year they won Sail Melbourne, Sydney International Regatta, the Australian 49er Championships and the NSW 49er Championships. They finished a credible sixth in their first World Championship.
Outteridge has been an NSWIS Scholarship holder since 2001. He was a finalist for the NSWIS Team Athlete of Year in 2004 and the NSWIS Outstanding Talent Award in 2002.
