NSWIS athletes were on fire last night at the Melbourne Track Classic, with a number of Commonwealth Games 'A' and 'B' qualifiers being recorded.

Dani Samuels claimed another first place finish, throwing 62.97 metres, the fourth best throw of her career, to record yet another Commonwealth Games 'A' qualifier.

Bridey Delaney and Ryan Gregson were in fine form over the middle distances. Delaney clocked 4:14.52 to take the win in the women's 1500m, while Gregson clocked a Commonwealth Games 'A' qualifying time of 1:46.04 to finish with silver in the men's 800m.

Laura Cornford threw a 'B' qualifying distance of 54.17 metres to finish fourth in the women's javelin, while in the men's javelin Matthew Outzen also threw a 'B' qualifying distance of 75.78 to place fifth in a strong international field.

Other results include Pirrenee Steinert's fifth place in the women's 400m, Joel Milburn placing fifth in the men's 400m, Lara Tamsett's silver in the women's 5000m and Kurt Fearnley's win in the men's 1500m wheelchair event.
