2009 - 2012 Netball Program

The NSWIS Netball Program provides a daily training environment that supports Netball Australia's decentralised national and international netball programs. The NSWIS offers 57 scholarships each year to netballers across NSW following the selection of national teams by Netball Australia.

NSWIS athletes are supported to compete in international and national level competitions. NSWIS gold scholarship athletes, the NSW Swifts, compete in a trans-tasman competition, the ANZ Championship. The NSW Swifts were the inaugural winners of the ANZ Championship.

Select NSWIS elite development athletes are supported to compete as a team in the Australian Netball League competition. The NSWIS Netball Program also supports emerging athletes through a camps based program.

Netball NSW deliver an effective state wide underpinning program for up to 300 athletes, in conjunction with identified regional academies of sport, metropolitan squads, universities and regional and local netball associations. This program provides up and coming athletes with a pathway to NSWIS scholarship.

Interesting fact:
The NSWIS Netball Program has assisted with the development of many of Australia's best players. Former Australian Netball Captain and NSWIS Board member Liz Ellis was supported by the NSWIS throughout her netball career. Liz was inducted into the NSWIS Most Outstanding at the 2008 NSWIS Awards Dinner.
