2009 - 2012 Sailing Program
The NSWIS Sailing Program supports the daily training needs of senior and junior athletes that form part of the Australian Sailing Development Squad, National Youth Squad athletes, as well as members of National Senior Squads that are based in NSW.
With up to 53 scholarships on offer annually, the program's competition focus is the Olympic Games, World Championships, and Youth World Championships.
The program is underpinned by an Emerging Talent Squad that provides a pathway for up to five athletes annually for progression into the NSWIS scholarship program.
Interesting Fact:
12 NSWIS sailors (of 17 nationally) were selected to compete at the 2008 Olympic Games. NSWIS athletes Nathan Wilmot and Malcolm Page brought home a gold medal from Beijing in the 470 class, while Darren Bundock won silver in the Tornado class.
