The NSWIS Triathlon Program aims to support athletes at the senior, elite, under-23 and junior levels. It also has an Emerging Athlete Program (EAP). The focus of the program is to achieve international success at events including World Championships and to provide support services for senior Australian professional athletes.
The NSWIS Triathlon Program targets outstanding under-23 and junior athletes, including members of the Australian World Championship team, while associate scholarships are offered to professional triathletes, elite long course triathletes and AIS scholarship holders.
Justin Drew has been involved with the NSWIS Triathlon Program since its inception in 1997. As NSWIS Triathlon Program Head Coach, Drew is responsible for managing the program with the assistance of his network coaches. Drew is based at the NSWIS Regional High Performance Centre for Triathlon at Lennox Head, where he coaches a number of elite, under-23 and junior athletes.
Drew is also a Level 3 triathlon coach, Level 2 cycling coach, Level 1 strength and conditioning coach and has a degree in Exercise Science and Sports Management. NSWIS Triathlon scholarship holder Brad Kahlefeldt is a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist, two-time Australian Champion, multiple World Cup winner and under-23 World Champion. Kahlefeldt finished 16th at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
