2009 - 2012 Wheelchair Track & Road Program
The NSWIS Wheelchair Track & Road Program supports the needs of athletes competing at an international level with a major competitive focus on the Paralympic Games, World Championships, and major road races such as the London and New York Marathons.
The NSWIS also coordinates the National Emerging Talent Squad that underpins the NSWIS scholarship program. With a focus on developing the next generation of Australian representatives, this program provides camp based support for up to four athletes.
The NSWIS supports the national Wheelchair Track & Road program by providing camps to support national athletes and is the only SIS/SAS to support a Wheelchair Track & Road program.
Interesting fact:
Louise Sauvage, Paralympic, Olympic, World Champion and former NSWIS Wheelchair Track & Road athlete, is now the Elite Development Coach for the NSWIS Wheelchair Track & Road Program, using her years of experience to assist other athletes to achieve their dreams. Louise is also a member of the NSWIS Most Outstanding.
In November 2009 Kurt Fearnley created history by crawling the Kokoda Trail. Fearnley made the journey with a group of close family and friends to raise awareness for issues relating to men's health, and that through support, any situation can be overcome.
