Nathan Outteridge - Sailing
Nathan Outteridge has experienced a stellar 2009 season with multiple wins in a variety of sailing classes. Outteridge claimed a gold medal at the 2009 49er World Championships in Italy, this was shortly followed by a silver medal in the Mixed 29er Class at the 2009 29er World Championships. His year was capped off when he won silver in the Men’s Moth Class at the 2009 Moth World Championships.
Iain Jensen – Sailing
At the 2009 49er World Championships in July, Iain Jensen teamed with Nathan Outteridge to capture gold in the men’s 49er Class. Jensen then backed up his performances at the Delta Lloyd and 49er World Championships by notching a bronze medal at the 29er World Championships. Jensen teamed with Outteridge’s sister Haley to cap off a great stretch of sailing.
Shannon Dallas – AWD Winter Sports
Shannon Dallas was crowned world champion after winning the men’s sitting slalom at the 2009 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in Korea. He also claimed gold in the men’s super combined discipline at a world cup event in Italy. Dallas is based on the Central Coast, but regularly competes overseas and trains at the NSWIS.
Megan Dunn – Cycling
Megan Dunn is based in Dubbo and is supported by her local club, ClubsNSW member club Dubbo RSL. Dunn has cemented her place as the world’s best junior cyclist after winning back to back triple junior world championship crowns. At the 2009 UCI Junior Track Cycling World Championships in Russia, Dunn claimed victory in the women’s omnium, women’s points race and as part of the Australian women’s team pursuit team.
Kurt Fearnley – Wheelchair Track & Road
In 2009 Kurt Fearnley finally win the London Marathon, a race that had eluded him for years. On top of this he won his third consecutive New York Marathon in November 2008. In March and April 2009 Fearnley experienced one of the most successful stretches of his career. Over six weeks Fearnley notched wins in the Seoul International Marathon, Paris Marathon as well as the London Marathon. For Fearnley it was his third career victory in the Seoul International Marathon, second in the Paris Marathon.
