Technical Analysis/Skill Acquisition

The Institute provides performance analysis & skill acquisition services and support to NSWIS coaches and athletes in order to monitor and develop the skills and performance of athletes and coaches.

Performance analysis provides coaches and athletes with objective competition and training data, which can be used to examine and evaluate individual and team sport performance. The data analysed may consist of time-coded video, statistical data or individual race analysis information.

Technology now allows the coach, athlete and sport science staff the ability to analyse the performance during the event or post-competition in a feedback session environment.

Skill acquisition focuses on the athlete developing a sound technical action and then being able to apply it under the pressure of competition. It is a key component of the training process, providing measurable insight into elements of performance as well as assessing how coaching and feedback impacts upon athlete learning and development.

Monitoring athlete development assists coaches to understand, analyse and measure athlete skill, providing guidance and resources to help athletes acquire, develop and control their skills.
