The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Basketball Program is supported as an international campaign focus program delivered in partnership with Basketball Australia (BA), Basketball NSW (BNSW) and the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC).
The NSWIS Basketball Program is an integrated program that caters for able-bodied athletes and wheelchair athletes.
The NSWIS Basketball Program will provide a campaign focused training environment for NSWIS athletes by supporting two full time programs (basketball and wheelchair basketball), with two full time coaches targeting:
- The international campaign (Paralympic Games and world championships) of senior international wheelchair basketball athletes through coaching and servicing
- An integrated talent approach to maximise outcomes for future international success for elite development (U17 and U19) basketball athletes
The NSW Institute of Sport is the only state institute or Academy of Sport to support a dedicated wheelchair basketball program.
