Track & Field

The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Track & Field Program is supported as an international development program in partnership with Athletics Australia (AA) and Athletics NSW (ANSW). The program provides training and competition, facilities and support services to improve athlete development with a view to supporting the daily training needs of targeted athletes.

Partners are currently reviewing and developing the program for 2013-16 in line the Australian Sports Commission’s 'The Winning Edge'. The NSWIS will continue to support athletes identified through AA’s national scholarship framework until the national strategy for athletics in Australia is confirmed.

Supporting up to 45 scholarships annually, the program is committed to developing track & field athletes across NSW with a competition focus on the Olympics, world championships and Commonwealth Games.

The program features a dedicated Emerging Talent Squad in partnership with AA and ANSW. This program is established to support individual and target event group athletes identified as potential medallists at the 2016 Olympic Games.
