The NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) Winter Sports Program is supported as an international development program with a world class component delivered in partnership with the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA), Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) and NSW Snow Sports (NSWSS).
Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre (JSRC) and the ski resorts of Kosciuszko Thredbo and Perisher also partner the program through the provision of venues and facilities.
The program is unique with both a Sydney and regional (Jindabyne) base, aligned to OWIA program outcomes and includes a global training focus.
Targeting approximately 35 national athletes across four disciplines including; freestyle moguls, snowboard halfpipe, snowboard cross and ski cross, the program provides selected athletes with world class coaching and training facilities and a nationally coordinated sport science approach, with a focus on developing athletes through the national pathway to compete at the Winter Olympics.
A further 10 scholarships are offered to individual athletes representing Australia at an open international level in disciplines including but not limited to cross country, alpine, sliding sports and ice skating.
