Next time you are at NSWIS for training, come and check out the athlete kitchen on the ground floor and you will be inspired and delighted by the range of options and opportunities to fuel the session you came in for!
Fuelling your training and eating before and after is an essential part of maximising training and the NSWIS nutrition team want to be able to support and encourage that by trialling a range of preparation and recovery foods to help you get the most out of your training.
You will find a variety of yoghurt, snack bars, bread, milk, spreads, nuts, cereals, tuna, cheese and fruit to build your meals and snacks. There are no excuses not to have food with you before training or to leave in a rush without eating anything as we have a range of food options to meet your training demands and nutritional needs including special dietary requirements. Our goal is that this helps encourage and support new and long-lasting habits to fuel your training effectively.
For a carbohydrate boost you might try a muesli bar, bowl of cereal, piece of fruit, rice cakes or toast. If you are seeking a post-training recovery snack you can try a fruit smoothie, yoghurt, scrambled eggs or a cheese toastie. Don’t forget the protein station in the training centre to access batch tested Musashi protein power for recovery also.
The athlete kitchen is open to athletes attending NSWIS for training or appointments and will be open from 8:30am-4:30pm.
