After the grueling 12 race qualification campaign in the mixed multihull – Nacra 17 foiling sailing discipline, NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) scholarship athletes Darmanin and Waterhouse will sail on Tuesday 3rd August 16:30 (AEST) in the medal race looking to win a Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games medal.
Sunday 1st August marked the final day of the qualification campaign and the Australian duo achieved 6th, 5th and 8th place finishes across the three races respectively securing their medal race spot.
Going into the medal race, multiple nations including Australia will feel they are strongly placed for a medal as Denmark, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Spain and Australia all won races during the qualification series.
