Athlete FAQ's
What role does AW&E have in mental health?
Personal Development
When it comes to mental health, AW&E provides resources, tools and strategies to help individuals navigate mental stressors. Think of it like a skateboarder at the top of a hill, AW&E are also at the top to provide you with equipment and a guide to get to the bottom.
How do I know if I should engage in personal development with my AW&E Advisor?
Personal Development
Our core personal development service focuses on values based living, this is at the centre of everything we do in AW&E. We believe personal values act like the rudder on a boat, helping us steer and take control of the direction we want to head in our life while establishing the habits we need to best position us to be successful. If you feel you are living life as it comes without a strong sense of purpose, then a trip down personal development road with your AW&E advisor could really benefit you.

What is involved in the NSWIS Career and Education Plan?
Career & Education
The plan aims to provide you with awareness of your passions and interests to help connect you with an education pathway or career plan that is tailored for you. We are aware that career decisions can have a long lasting effect on your life after sport, that is why we use a values based living model to inform your choices. The model does not guarantee a successful outcome, no model can, but making decisions based on your values will place you in the best position to thrive in your post athletic career. To begin the process, you will have a 45-minute consult with your advisor, after which you will receive your career and education report with action items. These items will inform ongoing consultations with your advisor until your career and/or education goals are met.
How can i get involved with community engagement activities at NSWIS?
Community Engagement
Community engagement at NSWIS is divided into three segments:
- Organisation: NSWIS will offer 4 major events each year for staff and athletes to attend. You can register your interest for these events during your induction through the onTrack screening.
- Sport Program: Your sport program has the opportunity to engage in community events during your current scholarship. These opportunities will be communicated via your coach or program manager.
- Individual: As an individual you can participate in local community events. If there is an engagement that is close to your heart, your advisor can work with you to help get you involved and raise awareness.
How can I find out about upcoming community events?
Community Engagement
All scheduled organisational events, will be advertised in the Athlete News, and updated in the calendar available on the AW&E Athlete Portal.
