Samantha Dale finished tenth in the women’s long jump on debut at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Samantha grew up in Oatlands and started participating in athletics as a junior. At 10 years of age she joined North Rocks Carlingford Little Athletics Club and stayed a member for the next seven years.

“I started athletics because I was a sporty kid and mum put me in it to see if I enjoyed it as it was a summer sport on a Saturday morning and I would play netball in winter.”

Samantha was also encouraged by her primary school, Christ the King in North Rocks, to participate in the school athletic carnivals. She attributes her success in athletics to both her Little Athletics Club and her primary school.

“I would do very well at primary school athletics carnivals and enjoyed doing athletics so we tried it at Club and now I’m able to go to the Commonwealth Games for it which I’m so excited.”
