Sophie Ash is an Australian freestyle skier that competes in mogul skiing. She was selected for her first Australian Olympic team for the Beijing 2022 Winter Games.

Growing up Sophie took part in acrobatic sports including gymnastics, trampoline, and diving before having to choose between pursuing trampolining or skiing. She chose the latter, racing for Australia in the Whistler Cup in 2011 and by 2014 making her debut on the North American (NorAm) cup circuit.

On the 2015-16 NorAM cup circuit tour she achieved a 5th place finish in the moguls at the Canada Olympic Park event.

A member of the 30-strong Australian team that debuted at the 8th Asian Winter Games in Sapporo, 2017, Sophie gained some valuable major international event experience when she finished fifth in the ladies’ moguls event and seventh in the dual moguls.

After finishing the 2016/17 Nor-Am season ranked 14th on the circuit, she secured a season’s best 13th place finish at the 2018 world cup event in Deer Valley, USA.

The years to follow saw her earn four top-10 finishes in the 2018/19 season, and three top-twenty finishes for the 2019/20 season. Her best result of the 2020/21 season was achieved again in Deer Valley, where she matched her 2018 efforts and placed 13th. The young mogul’s star is yet to beat her previous season’s best individual result, after having also placed 13th in the 2021/22 World Cup event in Tremblant, Canada.

In the lead up to the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Sophie placed 13th at the 2021-22 Tremblant world cup event.

At the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Sophie impressed on her debut posting a 16th place finish in the women’s moguls.
