Tyan Taylor is a member of the Australian Women’s Goalball team, the Aussie Belles, and represented Australia at the 2012 and 2016 Paralympics. Tyan will compete at her third Paralympics after being selected on to the Australian Team for Tokyo 2020.

Hailing from Berowra an outer suburb of Northern Sydney, Tyan’s goalball journey began in 2009 after attending a goalball for schools gala day. Shortly after that she was selected to represent New South Wales at the National Championships where she was second highest goal scorer of of the competition and caught the eye of the Australian coaching staff who invited her to train with the women’s national team.

The Dual Paralympian first donned the green and gold at the 2010 Goalball World Championships in England and competed the following year at the 2011 IBSA World Games in Turkey.

Tyan was then selected for the Aussie Belles squad for the London 2012 Paralympic Games – the first Australian goalball team to qualify for the Paralympic sport since Atlanta in 1996. The Belle’s finished in 5th place. The Belles failed to qualify for the 2016 Paralympics however after Russia was disqualified from competing they received a last minute invite to compete in Rio and where they placed 5th.

A fourth place finish at the 2019 IBSA Goalball International Qualifier saw the Aussie Belles secure a ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
