Australian weightlifter and NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) scholarship athlete Eileen Cikamatana has set multiple new Commonwealth Games records on her way to win the gold medal in the women’s 87kg division.
Eileen, who won gold four years ago when representing Fiji, was in a class of her own as she dominated the field.
The 22-year-old snatched 110kg to shatter a first Commonwealth Games record before all but sealing gold on her first lift in the clean and jerk with 129kg on the bar.
She capped off a near-perfect lift by raising the weight to 145kg to set another Games record in the clean and jerk and a total of 255kg.
