#diveintoNSWIS | Online submissions now open for NSWIS Diving Program

Posted on November 17, 2020 by

The NSW Institute of Sport is looking for the next generation of divers with a new online testing opportunity.

We are putting the call out for you to send us a video showing us your skills. Children of all ages are encouraged to ‘dive into NSWIS’ and submit a video online, for consideration by NSWIS coaching staff. Simply send an audition video less than two minutes that showcases the areas that a top diver needs – strength, flexibility, jumping and acrobatics.

The video submission deadline is November 22 to be considered, and you can submit your video below.

You are also encouraged to share your video via social media using the hashtag #diveintoNSWIS and tag @nswinsituteofsport.

Those shortlisted will be invited to an in-person testing day at Sydney Olympic Park, and ultimately may be offered an opportunity to train in an NSWIS Talent Squad working with Australian Olympians Melissa Wu and Kevin Chavez.

A background in trampolining, sports acrobatics, gymnastics or similar are preferred but not essential, and no diving experience is necessary. NSWIS requires dedicated, hard working athletes with a commitment to be involved in the NSWIS talent pathway and a desire to compete for Australia.

Your video should showcase components that a top diver needs – strength, flexibility, jumping and acrobatics.

Please remember to keep it safe and stay within your capabilities. You don’t need a a pool, diving board, trampoline or any equipment. Instead you can just use your home or backyard. You can even include any video you already have of other relevant sporting activity. The top videos will be short listed for a testing day in Sydney Olympic Park – The home of our training program.

Watch the short video below of Melissa Wu & Declan Stacey as they run through a demonstration of what activities to include in your video. We look forward to seeing your NSWIS diving submissions.
