NSWIS swimmer James Magnussen has continued his winning form by picking up four awards at the 2011 Swimmer of the Year awards over the weekend.
Magnussen won the Swimmer of the Year, People’s Choice, Swimmer’s Swimmer and Golden Moment awards at the event for his two gold and one silver medal during the 2011 FINA Aquatic World Championships. He shared the golden moment honour with fellow NSWIS athletes Matthew Abood and Eamon Sullivan for their triumph in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay at this year’s world championships. Magnussen’s coach Brant Best was recognised as the Coach of the Year, while Kenneth To was named Discovery of the Year.
The multiple awards follow on from the recent NSWIS Awards Dinner, where Magnussen won the ClubsNSW Male Athlete of the Year and Sydney City Toyota Team Athlete of the Year awards, as well as the Classic Sportswear Most Memorable, which he shared with Abood and Sullivan. Best and To were awarded the Sportspro Coach of the Year and University of Sydney Academic Excellence awards, respectively.
