Several staff members from the NSW Institute of Sport have taken part in this year’s ‘Sports Stars Sleepout’ at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Louise Sauvage, Rebecca Rippon, Mel Rippon and Anthony Quinn joined fellow prominent sportspeople for The Chappell Foundation’s annual fundraising event in support of homeless and disadvantaged youth.
Sleeping on the grass of the SCG, participants built cardboard shelters to replicate the experience of sleeping rough – a reality that 1 in 200 Australians face every night.
The Chappell Foundation raises money for coalface charities who deal directly with young people who have fallen between the cracks.
Restrictions have added to the strain, with one charity reporting a 150% increase in referrals since March.
To support our 2020 Sports Stars Sleepout participants, you can donate to The Chappell Foundation to provide organisations support to ensure they can provide a safe home, care and development for homeless youth in Australia.
