Former NSW Institute of Sport hockey athlete Alyson Annan has been named the 2018 Female Coach of the Year by the International Hockey Federation.

Annan, who is one of seven NSWIS Most Outstanding athletes, was given the honour at the FIH Hockey Stars Awards in Lausanne, Switzerland.

It’s the second year in a row that the hockey coach has been given the award, for her work as Head Coach of The Netherlands’ women’s team.

In 2018, The Netherlands won the FIH Women’s World Cup and were ranked number one in the world.

During her playing career, Annan won two Olympic gold medals with the Hockeyroos, in Atlanta (1996) and Sydney (2000).

Annan was an NSWIS Scholarship Holder between 1996 and 2002.
