Katrina Powell and Courtney Schonell debut in Hockeyroos stalemate

Playing their first international matches in almost 15 months, the Hockeyroos have played out three draws with New Zealand in the Trans-Tasman Series.
Eight NSWIS graduate athletes formed part of the 27-strong squad that traveled across the Tasman, with former NSWIS Women’s Hockey Head Coach Katrina Powell making her debut at the helm of the Hockeyroos, following her appointment in March this year.
Game 1 would also see one of the latest senior national team members, Courtney Schonell, making her debut in a 1-1 draw to start the series.

Despite dominating large periods of the game, the Hockeyroos were forced to play catch up in Game 2 but showed great resilience to come from two goals behind to earn a second stalemate of the series thanks to stunning strikes from Steph Kershaw and Mariah Williams. And in Game 3 it was a case of deja-vu with the game once again ending 2-a-piece.
With the Series still up for grabs, both teams have it all to play for in the final match of the series on Tuesday.
