Australia’s Saya Sakakibara progressed through her BMX racing quarter final race series to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games semi finals.
NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) supported Sakakibara showed real grit and composure during her three race quarter final series, after placing 6th (last) in the first race she had it all to do in the second and third races to gain qualification, but she did exactly that by placing 4th in her second race and 1st in the third and final race respectively.
Her third ride was clocked at 44.690 seconds which was the second fastest time of all the competitors in her three race quarter final series.
Sakakibara will be fully focused on her semi final scheduled for Friday 30th July, 11:15 (AEST), and beyond that the medals race which follows at 12:50 (AEST).
