NSWIS sailor Tom Slingsby claimed gold in the men’s laser with a day to spare at the 2011 Sail Melbourne regatta, with a number of fellow NSWIS athletes in contention for medals.
Slingsby heads into today’s final race with a 19 point lead over his nearest competitor, assuring him of the gold medal after finishing in the top three in nine of the 10 races during the competition.
The other NSWIS athletes in contention for medals on the final day of competition are Tom Burton (men’s laser), Nathan Outteridge and Iain Jensen (men’s 49er), Will Ryan (men’s 470), Malcolm Page (men’s 470), Jessica Crisp (women’s RS:X) and Liesl Tesch (skud 18) and Ame Barnbrook & Lindsay Mason (skud 18).
