Our hearts are heavy at the news of the tragic passing of20-year-old Olympic figure skater Ekaterina ‘Katia’Alexandrovskaya.
Katia was a wonderful member of Team NSWIS from 2017 through to early 2020. After attaining her citizenship in 2016, Katia formed a strong combination with skating partner Harley Windsor and together, the duo made history.
In 2017, the pair became Australia’s first Pairs Figure Skating World Junior Champions and were also the first Australians to win an ISU (International Skating Union) event. They then went on to represent Australia proudly at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics.
An incredibly determined but humble athlete, Katia will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with her family, her competition partner Harleyand the winter sports community.
