Hockey player with the NSW Institute of Sport Zoe Newman is shaving off her long locks, raising money for the children’s charity Variety.

The NSWIS athlete, who will have her buzzcut on the 13th March, hopes to raise $2000 for the charity.

“A little always goes a long way, so whatever you can give to help the fundraising efforts, thank you.”

You can donate to her cause below.

It’s something Zoe Newman has been planning for a while.

“Those that know me, already know that for a few years now, I’ve been growing out my hair so that it would be long enough to donate it, and still possible to have a little bit of hair left.”

It’s not just money Newman will be donating, with her shaved hair also being put to good use.

“The hair will be made into a wig for someone who has lost their hair due to a medical condition.

“Wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. So the money raised here will help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.
