On Episode 7 of the Musashi R&D Sessions Podcast, Ross Webb and Dhiren Dunraj are joined by Sally Walker, Senior Dietitian for the NSW Institute of Sport.
The focus for the episode was on the training and nutrition topic ‘Game Day Nutrition’, with the NSWIS dietitian quizzed on the importance of consistent eating patterns, carb loading vs storage loading, and timing meals before activity to free up the digestive system.
Sally Walker also provides insight on high-impact and low-impact sports, macros and micros, and how a high concentration of sugar can inhibit rehydration.
Also discussed is the postponement of the Olympics and how this has affected different athletes, with reference to the transferability of various sports and the energy stores required for different activities.
