Diving Australia has announced five athletes to represent Australia in two diving disciplines at the upcoming FINA Abu Dhabi Aquatics Festival to be held from the 19th – 20th December, 2021.
NSWIS Athletes Melissa Wu, and Esther Qin were among those selected to don the Green and Gold for the event. Functioning as a team exhibition alongside fellow diver, Cassiel Rousseau, Melissa and Esther are preparing to compete together across the springboard, platform and synchronised events.

The competition will come off the back of Melissa’s medal winning performance at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where she won her first individual Olympic medal. Competing at her fourth Games, she claimed the bronze medal and Australia’s first individual Olympic medal since Matthew Mitcham won gold in 2012.
At Tokyo, Esther competed at her second Olympic Games, reaching the final of the Women’s 3-metre event. The springboard specialist brings her impressive list of podium achievements, including four Commonwealth Games medals, seven FINA Diving World Series medals and 11 FINA Diving Grand Prix medals to the team for Abu Dhabi.
NSWIS wishes Melissa and Esther luck as they prepare for the Acquatics Festival and we look forward to following along with all the action in December.
