Young NSWIS snowboard cross rider Adam Lambert, 19, has capped a stunning debut season by taking the men’s overall Europa Cup title.

Lambert took out three of the first five Europa Cup events to get the chance to race against the best in the world in the main World Cup events. He took this step up in competition in his stride, with his most impressive result taking 6th place in the World Championships in Sierra Nevada earlier this month.

Lambert said, “It’s been an incredible season for me. World Championships weren’t even on my radar, and I never would have imagined that at my first World Championships I would manage to make it into the big finals. It was an indescribable experience.”

There was further NSWIS snowboard cross success this weekend with Alex Pullin taking his third podium of the year with a World Cup bronze in Veysonnaz.

As the season draws to a close, and with the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang less than a year away, things are looking good for NSWIS winter athletes.
