Canoe Sprint

In collaboration with Paddle Australia and Paddle NSW – the NSWIS Canoe Sprint Program is based out of the NSWIS High Performance Hub at Narrabeen. The program provides comprehensive support to NSW based paddle athletes, assisting them to achieve performance targets and fostering the growth of a high performance athlete pathway program.

The NSWIS Canoe Sprint Program has nurtured a group of internationally successful athletes who have left their mark on the world stage. Olympians Murray Stewart, Lachlan Tame, Riley Fitzsimmons, and Jo Brigden-Jones have all achieved podium finishes in their respective events. Murray Stewart – an Olympic gold medallist and World Championship medallist – claimed gold in the K4 1000m event at the 2012 London Olympics. Lachlan Tame – an Olympic bronze medallist and world championship medallist, earned bronze in the K2 1000m event at the 2016 Rio Olympics. Dylan Littlehales – a para canoe athlete – showcased his talent with a gold medal in the KL3 200 at the 2023 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2022 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships.
