NSW Institute of Sport high jumper Brandon Starc has capped off a stunning week of competition by becoming only the fourth Australian to win an IAAF Diamond League Final Trophy.

Following the exploits of Mitchell Watt (2011), Fabrice Lapierre (2016) and Sally Pearson (2017), the 24-year-old cleared 2.33m on his second attempt in Brussels which was enough to claim the trophy as well as a $50,000 USD ($69,492 AUD) cash prize.

The result tops off an incredibly successful week for Starc who equalled the long-held Australian Record of 2.36m at the Eberstadt Hochsprung event in Germany last weekend.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games Champion will finish off his best-ever international season by competing as part of the Asia/Pacific Team at the Continental Cup in Ostrava (September 8-9).
