NSWIS snowboarder Torah Bright kicked off her half-pipe season in style by winning gold in at the prestigious Dew Tour event in the USA over the weekend.

Competing in the women’s super-pipe against a star-studded field, including a full squad of American athletes aiming for Olympic selection, Bright scored 95.4 points to take the title and signal her golden intentions ahead of next year’s Games.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Kent Callister competed in the men’s super-pipe, finishing in 11th place in an equally impressive field.

Skier Russ Henshaw also made an appearance on the podium after picking up bronze in the men’s slopestyle event.

At one point Henshaw lost a ski and was forced to land on one leg thanks to the treacherous conditions, however he was eventually able to recover to post a score of 90.00 en route to bronze.
