Diamonds cruise past Samoa

The Australian women’s netball team, the Diamonds, have come out of the blocks firing at the 2011 Netball World Championships in Singapore with a 81-23 rout of Samoa.

Featuring NSWIS athletes Catherine Cox, Kimberlee Green and Mo’onia Gerrard, the Diamonds were never troubled by the Samoans, leading 38-16 at half time before motoring on in the second half to secure victory. The match doubled as Gerrard’s 50th international cap.

The Diamonds take on Northern Ireland tonight in match two of their campaign.
