NSWIS athlete Angela Ballard is the Institute’s newest world champion after winning two gold medals from two events at the 2015 IPC Athletics World Championships in Qatar.

Ballard opened Australia’s campaign with a gold medal in the women’s T53 200m on the opening night of competition, easily accounting for her opposition by a posting a new championship record time of 29.33 seconds.

Ballard, who is coached by Louise Sauvage, then went on to claim her second gold of the meet by triumphing in the women’s T53 400m with a time of 57.47 seconds.


In other results, Ballard finished 10th in the women’s T53 1500m, Sarah Walsh finished sixth in the women’s long jump and Taylor Doyle ran a new personal best of 14.29 to place seventh in the women’s T38 100m.


The championships conclude on 31 October.
