NSWIS weightlifter Eileen Cikamatana has comfortably collected three gold medals at the Roma 2020 Weightlifting World Cup.

In her first competition since leaving the junior ranks, the 20-year-old finished on a total of 255kg in the 81kg division, with 115kg in the snatch and 140kg in the clean and jerk.

Such was her domination, Cikamatana did not commence her lifts until after her rivals had finished, leaving her well clear of USA’s Jessie Bradley (silver) and Belgium’s Anna Vanbellinghen (bronze) who finished on 239kg and 227kg respectively.

Despite stepping up to the senior division, Cikamatana continues to make headlines as one of the most exciting young talents in sport. Her victories in November (Peru) and December (China) last year featured three junior world records and a defeat of China’s 2018 world champion Ao Hui. She is now the No.1 junior weightlifter in her category in the world by an incredible 50 kilograms.
