NSW Institute of Sport (NSWIS) athletes will be able to study more vocational courses than ever before in a renewed partnership with FIAFitnation announced today.

Australia’s longest-running fitness education provider, FIAFitnation will be extending its partnership as one of NSWIS’ Education Providers for a further year.

In previous years, up to ten FIAFitnation scholarships have been on offer to NSWIS athletes as part of the arrangement, across Certificate III in Fitness and Certificate IV in Fitness.

In 2018/19, NSWIS athletes will be also able to study the Diploma of Fitness and Diploma of Nutrition and Dietetics, giving athletes a greater range of options to pursue in their vocational studies.

Personal Excellence Advisor at NSWIS, Rhian Bird, says that the relationship with FIAFitnation is particularly valuable for NSWIS athletes looking to combine a passion for sport and fitness with education and potential careers.

“We are very excited to hear that FIAFitnation is extending its partnership with NSWIS into 2019, and the addition of an extra two courses this year gives our athletes more opportunities to further their education while pursuing a career in elite sport.”

“FIAFitnation offers scholarships which support the flexible learning arrangements often required by our athletes, helping to balance the responsibilities of their training and competition with the demands of a tertiary education.

“We’re pleased that these opportunities will continue to be available to NSWIS athletes.”

National VET Manager Ewan Birnie says FIAFitnation is looking forward to continuing to support the state’s elite athletes in their study and career journeys.

“In renewing our partnership with NSWIS, we’re pleased to be able to offer even more study options at FIAFitnation to its athletes at over the next two years.

“We look forward to welcoming our new scholarship holders in 2018/19, and continuing to help them reach their goals as elite athletes with NSWIS, and as professional fitness educators with FIAFitnation.”

FIAFitnation provides nationally recognised personal training certificates and diploma courses in fitness and nutrition, as well as professional development courses. It is one of two Education Providers working with NSWIS, along with the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE).
