Alex Dickson is a rising winter sport star in the discipline of snowboard cross. The teenager from Jindabyne already has a Youth Winter Olympic medal on his mantelpiece and is aiming for higher honours as he progresses to the senior ranks.

What inspired you to start a career in sport?

I’ve always loved sport, I played every sport I could when I was younger, and I guess I was just bound to choose one that appealed to me most.

What sporting achievements are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my recent second place medal at the Youth Winter Olympics.

What do you do in your training that you believe is the key to your success?

A lot of cross sport training, I ride my bike which is a great cross over, it has helped me develop myself as an athlete and to get the fundamental understandings of the sport.

Are there any athletes that inspire you?

Pierre Vaultier is a French SBX rider who inspired me to never give up when I get bad results.

What is one thing most people would not know about you?

I only put the effort into things I believe will bring me success and benefit me as a snowboarder.
