Fox Hunts World Cup Glory AS as Canoe Slalom Series Heads to Final Round in Spain

Paddle Australia’s Canoe Slalom team will head to La Seu d’Urgell, Spain this weekend for the fifth and final event of the 2026 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup Series, with New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) athlete Jessica Fox chasing overall World Cup titles in both the Women’s Kayak and Canoe disciplines.

Following four rounds of competition, Fox sits atop the Women’s K1 World Cup rankings and third in the Women’s C1 standings, putting the Australian in contention for further World Cup success as the Series heads towards its final round.

“I’m really happy with my racing this season. It’s been a bit rocky managing injury at the same time but I’ve been so well supported and feeling good on the water,” Fox said 

“When I started the season I didn’t really consider the overall ranking – it was just about feeling good and getting back into racing. But to be currently in the running for it is really exciting and we will see how we go this weekend, because it’s double points – you never know.”

Fox heads into the World Cup Final in strong form after claiming Women’s K1 gold at the previous World Cup in Vaires-sur-Marne, France last weekend. The victory marked her 20th World Cup gold medal in the discipline and her second K1 World Cup win of the 2026 season.

It adds to Fox’s unbelievable season that saw her triumphant at the 2026 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships stage in Oklahoma City, the venue of the LA28 Olympic Games, with three gold medals. 

“It’s been amazing to be back on the circuit this year. It was the comeback year and it definitely exceeded my expectations,” she said.

To win the worlds and have some wins in three categories has been really motivating and a great way to start the LA28 qualifying period. The work is not over and next year will be important so I hope to continue with this momentum.”

The World Cup Final will take place in La Seu d’Urgell from 10-13 September, with Fox set to line up across the Women’s Kayak, Canoe and Kayak Cross events. Sister and fellow NSWIS athlete Noemie Fox will also contest the Women’s Kayak, Canoe and Kayak Cross, while Ada Mackie (NSWIS) will compete in Women’s Kayak Cross.

In the men’s events, Lucien Delfour (NSWIS), Ben Pope and Tim Anderson (NSWIS) will contest the Men’s Kayak, with Delfour and Anderson also lining up in Kayak Cross. Tristan Carter, Kaylen Bassett (NSWIS) and Lachlan Bassett will compete in the Men’s Canoe, while Merle Long returns for the Men’s Kayak Cross.

The World Cup Final will bring the 2026 ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup season to a close, with Jess Fox aiming to finish the series on top of the standings and add another World Cup title to her decorated career of 12 World Cup titles across K1 and C1.
