There were some big efforts at the Commonwealth Games which made up the NSW Institute of Sport’s strong medal haul of 22 gold, 16 silver and 9 bronze.

On the running track or around the streets of the Gold Coast, 13 NSWIS athletes ran or pushed a huge distance of 116,500m. It’s more than twice the distance of all the beaches on the Gold Coast combined!

Four NSWIS cyclists peddled a distance of 143,650m – equating to a whopping 24 times around the Bathurst 1000 race track.

Our swimmers swam the distance of the Sydney Harbour Bridge just under five times, ten athletes contributing to a swim of 5500m.
