NSWIS Slalom paddlers wrapped up the 2018 Oceania Canoe Slalom Championships in style with gold medals for Jess Fox and Lucien Delfour, and a bronze for Ros Lawrence.

Olympic medallist Fox bounced back from earlier disappointment in the K1 to take gold in the C1 competition. Her teammate Lawrence came in third to claim the bronze medal.

In the men’s K1 event Olympian Lucien Delfour held off a challenge from defending champion Michal Smolen (US) to take home the gold.

Delfour was delighted to win in testing conditions, “I’m pretty happy with my performance here. A couple of mistakes, but it’s great to go home with this, especially as it counts towards our selections and this is a difficult course.”

Selections for the 2018 Australian Canoe Slalom National Team will continue at the Australian Open to take place at Penrith Whitewater Stadium 16-18 February 2018.
