Paralympic champion Tiffany Thomas Kane began her 2017 season in fine fashion over the weekend by claiming gold on the opening night of the Australian Swimming Championships in Brisbane.

Thomas Kane took out the women’s multi-class 100m breaststroke to put herself in the box seat for a spot on the Australian team heading to the IPC Swimming World Championships later this year.

The 15-year old’s fellow NSWIS athlete Maddi Elliott was also in the medals, winning bronze in the women’s multi-class 100m freestyle.

Youngster Bradley Woodward was also in finals action on night one, finishing sixth in the men’s 200m breaststroke in a new personal best time of 2:00.85.

The championships continue until 13 April.
