The Australian men’s hockey side are FIH Men’s World Hockey League Champions thanks to a second half drag-flick goal from Blake Govers.

A 2-1 win over Argentina in Bhubaneswar means the Kookaburras have claimed back-to-back titles, a triumph that will mean Australia will regain world number won status in the next FIH rankings.

Govers won the penalty corner for Australia, before powering a clinical finish past Vivaldi’s left for the match winner.

Fellow NSWIS athlete, youngster Lachlan Sharp, featured well in the final after joining the Kookaburras for the competition late as an injury replacement.

Argentina won three late penalty corners but goalkeeper Tyler Lovell and Australia stood firm to clinch a famous triumph to end 2017 on a high.
