The Australian men’s hockey team, the Kookaburras, will look to the upcoming 5 Nations tournament in France after a tough outing at the 4 Nations tournament in Germany.

The team, featuring three NSWIS athletes, finished the 4 Nations with a 1-2 loss to Spain overnight. NSWIS athlete Matthew Butturini scored the Kookaburras’ only goal, and despite controlling the play for most of the match the team was unable to convert the opportunities into a victory.

Prior to the loss to Spain, the Kookaburras suffered a 1-6 drubbing against the Netherlands and a 3-1 victory over Germany.

The team will now head to France for the 5 Nations where they finish their European tour. The NSWIS athletes in the team are Butturini, Simon Orchard and Mark Paterson.
