The 2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships concluded over the weekend with two NSWIS athletes being crowned world champions in Singapore.

The standout performer from the five-strong NSWIS contingent was rising star Lucy McJannett, who won two gold and one silver medal.

McJannett’s gold medals came in the women’s 4x100m and 4x200m freestyle relays, with a new world junior record being set in each event by the Australian team. McJannett’s silver medal came in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay, while individually she placed sixth in the women’s 100m freestyle.

Fellow NSWIS athlete Vincent Dai was part of the gold medal winning Australian 4x100m freestyle relay team, with the quartet holding off the USA and Italy into gold.

Matthew Wilson rounded out the NSWIS results with two silver and one bronze medal; silver coming in the men’s 200m breaststroke and mixed 4x100m medley relay, and bronze coming in the men’s 4x100m medley relay.

The Australian team finished on top of the medal tally with nine gold, six silver and three bronze medals.
