The New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS) has unveiled a new brand identity, marking the beginning of a new chapter for one of Australia’s most successful high performance sporting organisations.

For more than 30 years, NSWIS has supported exceptional athletes to achieve success on the world stage, while continually evolving to meet the changing demands of high performance sport. The new brand reflects NSWIS’s ambition to lead into the next era of Australian sport as it works towards Australia’s next home Games 2032 and beyond.

The new identity replaces the long-standing NSWIS logo that has been worn with pride by generations of athletes, coaches and staff. While modern in its design, the brand has been developed to honour the organisation’s rich legacy while signalling its future direction.

NSWIS Chief Executive Officer Kirsten Thomson OLY said the new brand was a reflection of both where the organisation had come from and where it was heading.

“This is much more than a new logo. It is a statement about our future and our ambition to build a world-leading sporting institute that enables athletes to perform at their best, thrive as people and inspire communities across New South Wales.”

Thomson said the rebrand coincided with a period of significant opportunity for Australian sport.

“As we look towards 2032 and beyond, Australia’s high performance system has a unique opportunity to shape the future of sport. Our new brand reflects our ambition, our readiness for what lies ahead and our commitment to working with athletes, coaches, sports and partners to achieve lasting success.”

The launch follows the release of the NSWIS Strategic Plan 2032+ Perform. Thrive. Inspire., which sets the organisation’s direction for the years ahead.

Olympian, broadcaster and NSWIS alumnus and board member Matt Shirvington OLY welcomed the new identity at last week’s NSWIS Awards.

“This is the logo athletes will wear on their chest, staff and coaches will wear with pride, and one that represents far more than a few letters. It carries a legacy and the responsibility to build what comes next.”

While NSWIS’s visual identity has evolved, its purpose remains unchanged: supporting exceptional athletes and inspiring NSW communities.
