The 2018 Australian Elite Junior Championships have wrapped up in Hobart, Tasmania, with the NSWIS Diving Team celebrating a haul of 15 medals as four athletes and one coach won selection for the Australian Junior National Team. A further six NSWIS athletes were selected for the Australian Junior National Squad.

Following a series of medal-winning performances in Hobart, Sam Fricker (coached by Vyninka Arlow), Vlad Rudenko (coached by Vyninka Arlow), Hamish Hutchinson (coached by Joel Rodriguez) and Lauren Flint (coached by Chava Sobrino) have been called up to take on the world’s best at the 2018 FINA World Junior Championships in Kiev, Ukraine between 11-14 of July.

Several other NSWIS athletes – Kennedy Cooper, Milly Puckeridge, Zara Tullipan, Anya Rudenko, Sofia Knight and Emily Pearson – have been selected for the Australian Junior National Squad and will train alongside the team before it takes part in the Championships in July. Vyninka Arlow has also been selected as team coach.

Success in Hobart wasn’t just confined to the pool, as Sam Fricker won Junior Male Athlete of the year, and New South Wales was named State of the Year.
