Owens third at Winter X Games

NSWIS skier Jenny Owens has claimed one of the most memorable results of her career by taking bronze in the women’s ski cross at the 2012 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado.

Owens kept her cool in a race marred by crashes; one racer crashed at the start gate, another crashed while in the lead and Owens herself almost hit the snow before hanging on to win bronze by 0.112 seconds.

Owens was one of only two Australians to win a medal at the event considered second to the Olympic Winter Games on the international calendar. Australian Anna Segel also won bronze in the women’s skier slopestyle.
