NIAS Athletes at Tamworth RuralFit Hubs in preparation for Pursu32+

The Northern Inland Academy of Sport (NIAS) is proud to welcome the PURSU32+ Olympic & Paralympic Pathway Talent Program to Tamworth this weekend. This high-performance talent pathway, a collaboration of the New South Wales Institute of Sport (NSWIS), NSW Office of Sport (OOS), State Sporting Organisations (SSOs) and Regional Academies of Sport (RAS), is poised to ignite the aspirations of exceptional athletes from across regional New South Wales.

Designed to identify, nurture, and propel the pipeline of regional talent onto the elite stage, PURSU32+ is a selective talent program focused on providing unprecedented opportunities for athletes and coaches alike in Olympic and Paralympic sports. With a keen eye on developing the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, PURSU32+ offers participants exposure to top-tier coaching, specialised training, immersion in a high performance environment and invaluable resources aimed at preparing them for success both nationally and internationally.

Scheduled from Friday 17 May – Sunday 19 May, Camp 3 – the Tamworth edition of PURSU32+ promises to be a beacon of sporting excellence, attracting some of the brightest talents from across the NSW Regional Academies and also signals a new era for Tamworth as a premier sports destination.

“Tamworth hosting PURSU32+ marks an exciting chapter in the journey of regional sporting development,” said Shona Eichorn, CEO of NIAS. “This event not only showcases the incredible talent housed in regional NSW but also underscores Tamworth’s growing reputation as a hub for sporting excellence.”

Moreover, along with numerous NSWIS experts and RAS staff, the presence of esteemed mentor Anthony Quinn (former professional rugby league footballer and now Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Advisor with NSWIS), adds a layer of inspiration and guidance for the attending athletes. With an impressive career spanning over a decade, Quinn’s insights and mentorship promise to enrich the PURSU32+ experience, empowering young athletes to reach new heights in their sporting endeavours. The theme for the PURSU32+ Camp in Tamworth is “Winning Well”.

In addition to hosting the PURSU32+ Talent Program, Tamworth continues to solidify its reputation as a premier destination for sporting excellence. Just this month, Tamworth (along with NIAS) was proudly selected as the host city for the next three years of the esteemed Your Local Club Academy Games, April 2025 – 2027.

This decision underscores Tamworth’s exceptional facilities, vibrant community spirit, and unwavering commitment to nurturing sporting talent. With the upcoming PURSU32+ camp adding to this momentum, Tamworth is poised to further shine on the regional and national sporting stage, showcasing its ability to foster athletic growth and development.
