NSWIS athlete Anneliese Rubie will be lining up for a competitive Australian team at the IAAF World Relays in Nassau (Bahamas) this weekend.

Rubie was part of the 4x400m relay team that made it to the Olympic final in Rio, and will hoping to kick start this season in the Caribbean. A particular focus will be making another final appearance – which will guarantee qualification for the World Championships in London in August. But Rubie is also excited about some important events on the horizon.

She told Athletics Australia, “We have our sights set on a medal at Gold Coast 2018. I believe we are a real chance for a podium finish at the Commonwealth Games and that will set us up perfectly for a great Olympic campaign at Tokyo 2020.”

Rubie will be joined on the team for the first time by NSWIS teammate Ella Nelson.

She told Athletics Australia, “I am nervous but also pumped. I’ve been wanting to be a part of the 4x400m team for quite a while, their energy on the track and great team culture really reflects the success they have had so far. I couldn’t be happier to be here with them.”
